Reach Out and Touch Someone

I’m going to take a stab that most of my readers have no idea who Ma Bell was or what “reach out and touch someone means.” When I thought about writing this post that phrase came to mind, and then I found this:

In the Internet age and the vast world of social media we have somehow become more isolated. We email, we text, but we really don’t reach out to touch someone to make a real connection.

One of the goals my team has for this year is to work on making those connections. To pick up the phone and actually “meet” with editors, clients, and even other agents. To better get to know everyone in our world and stay connected.

For authors making those connections is just as important. They say the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but you don’t need to be squeaky, you just need to be there. Connecting with you agent and editor on a regular basis keeps your relationship alive and healthy and, let’s face it, we all work harder for those we know we’re talking to or hearing from on a regular basis.

And, by the way, what was going on with that man and that other man’s wife and that good-bye kiss?

  1. For those that are unpublished it’s important too. Writing is an isolated endeavor and connecting with other writers is important.

  2. thank you for posting this, it helps a lot. now to check out what genre you are open to accepting.
May need a lesson on querying and proposal.
