What you Write: Middle-grade fiction
Agent: Emily Forney
Why BookEnds? Unlike other agencies, BookEnds had everything I was looking for: that perfect blend of efficiency and industry pull of a big agency, but with the closeness and dedication of a smaller, independent company. Besides, Emily made me see right from the get-go that I wasn’t going to find a more wholehearted champion for me and my work out there. Her passion for finding diverse and international voices is a testament to BookEnds’ commitment to represent talent everywhere in the world, not matter where you’re from. For someone like me, that really struck a chord and made me feel right at home.

What genres do you write? Middle-grade adventure and contemporary fantasy, with just a dab of spookiness (because who doesn’t love a good ghost story?) Read? Anything and everything! But I have a soft spot for really captivating picture books.
Plotter or pantster? Definitely a plotter. I like to think of myself as schemer of stories, mwahaha. All kidding aside, I’m all about outlining and figuring out where the story can go before actually writing it. That being said, I do leave room for spontaneity when I put on my writing hat and start typing away. You never know when the muses might strike!
Synopses, love them or hate ‘em? Got to love to hate ‘em. They’re a pain to write in my opinion, but they’re super useful to reflect upon the essence of your book. If you struggle to sum up your own story in just a few sentences, then you haven’t figured out what it’s about yet.
Do you have a writing playlist or a vision board? If so, what’s on them? Of course! Music is my perfect writing companion. I’ll even go surfing through online music libraries to look for tracks that could very well make up the book’s score as it if were a movie.
Drink of choice when writing? When not writing? Chai tea when writing, especially during those cuddly fall and winter months. When not writing, I’m a sucker for healthy smoothies!
Day or Night writer? All-day writer. Seriously. It’s a curse, haha. Even if I’m not physically sitting in front of the computer, in my head I’m always thinking and plotting my next chapter.
Twitter or Instagram? Where can we find you? Both! My Twitter and Instagram handle is @cabadawrites. Come join me on the Interwebs!
If you could meet any author, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why? Neil Gaiman, hands down. Coraline and The Graveyard Book have been a huge inspiration for me. Besides, not only is he the prolific and successful author I’d like to be one day, but I also hear he’s the nicest guy. Wouldn’t mind sharing a cup o’ tea with the old chap.
