This agency not only has a successful track record of representing successful authors and selling incredibly books, but they’re intentional about being involved in the writing community as a whole. For years I’ve used the BookEnds blog as a resource for answering the many gray-area questions that exist in this industry. It was clear this group is passionate about books and supporting authors, and I couldn’t think of a better place to be. Kim in particular represents several romance authors I love (Helen Hoang, Kennedy Ryan) and I knew she’d be incredible to work with if I got the chance (and I’m so glad I did)!
What genres do you write? Read?
Romance almost exclusively for both. So far I’ve only written contemporary romance, but I’ll read several other sub-genres like historical, paranormal, fantasy, etc.
Plotter or pantster?
I’ll say 70/30 favoring panster. I started off a complete panster, and still feel like my inner muse and the characters dictate the majority of any story I write. But the more I write the more I learn the importance of having at least a little structure, and plot more and more before each book.
Synopses, love them or hate ‘em?
HATE. THEM.
Do you have a writing playlist or a vision board? If so, what’s on them?
I create both before I even start writing a book. Music is a huge part of my life and my writing process and I have a playlist with music that inspires me for each book. You’ll also find my characters mentioning music often in my books. I also like to have a visual for my main characters before I start writing as well and use Pinterest for those.
Drink of choice when writing? When not writing?
I drink coffee at all times—day or night, writing or not. Occasionally after a long day when I’m writing in the evening, my beverage will be a beer or glass of wine. But usually coffee.
Day or Night writer?
Definitely night. On weekdays in particular, I don’t get to write until I’m home from the day job and my kids are in bed. On weekends I’m sometimes able to snag a few hours on Saturday or Sunday mornings. I find that writing when it’s quiet and dark and everyone else is asleep is the best time for me anyway…especially when I’m writing a particularly emotional scene.

If you could meet any author, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why?
Colleen Hoover. She’s been a favorite of mine for a long time (I like to say even before she was ‘cool,’ but to me she’s always been that way). I’d love to know more about her process when she writes, what inspires her, and what her author journey has been like. I also love that she’s super engaged in the romance community and hosts events where we can celebrate romance and at the same time give back to the community through various charities. Can’t wait for Book Bonanza 2022 (darn you, COVID).
