What book do you wish you had written, and why?
Winter’s Bone by Daniel Woodrell. It’s a tender portrait of a perilous existance, strikes you equally hard and soft. That’s the kind of story I want to write.
If you’re not reading or writing, what would we catch you doing?
Playing video games, fussing with my plants, or planning over-the-top Halloween parties.

Currently reading I Am Still Alive by Kate Alice Marshall, and listening to the audiobook of Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer.
If money were no object, what would be your dream writing location?
A room with two large windows. One window would look into a modern office biulding, the kind with the open floor plan and a CEO who glides around on Heelys, or maybe a dining room where it’s Thanksgiving and relatives who haven’t seen each other in a year are arguing about politics or a teenager’s choice of hair style. The other window would look into a forest.
What’s your favorite quote about reading or writing?
I have two; “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” ― Toni Morrison, and “Words can be like X-rays if you use them properly — they’ll go through anything. You read and you’re pierced.”― Aldous Huxley
What’s your favorite piece of writing advice you’ve received?
Write it all down, set it aside, forget about it, come back to it, tear it apart.
