Welcome to BookEnds, Nicola Marsh!

Tell us a bit about your writing process. Where do you write, and how often?

I write Monday to Friday from 9-2 (and in the evenings if I’m on a tight deadline.) I write anywhere. At my desk, at my folks’, at the library, at cafés, at school pick-up. Have laptop, will travel!

What is the hardest part of writing women’s fiction with a dark, twisty side?

I’ve recently ventured into this sub-genre and the hardest part about writing darker plots/characters is that after writing 64 books with happily-ever-afters it can be particularly challenging to delve into the darker side of a character: what makes them do bad things. And the research of how they’ll do those bad things is eye-opening!

What book do you wish you had written, and why?

Twilight. It sparked a phenomenon in the young adult genre and reignited a love of reading for teens; some adults too. But for the sheer amazement at longevity with a series, plus the phenomenal world building, it would have to be the Harry Potter series.

If you’re not reading or writing, what would we catch you doing?

I’m a crazy North Melbourne Kangaroos fan (Aussie Rules football) and have been since I was a kid, so I’ll either be cheering them on at home or at a live game.

Do you belong to any writing organizations?

Novelists INC (NINC), RWA (Romance Writers of America), RWAus (Romance Writers of Australia)

Where can readers find you on the web and social media?

I love social media so you’ll pretty much see me sharing something, somewhere, daily:
