What genres do you write? Read?

I write YA anything! Fantasy is probably my favourite genre because I can throw a unicorn into my book and nobody bats an eyelid.

I read any genre of YA (especially fantasy), but I’m not a big fan of contemporary. I also read Women’s Fiction, but, I will read anything if it’s got a great hook!

Plotter or pantster?

Pantser! Plotting doesn’t work for me. I usually daydream out the pivotal scenes, carefully select the playlist, then smash out the book in a few months. Then I send it out to my beta readers and go, “Is it crap? It’s crap, isn’t it?” Then I revise based off their feedback. My #llamasquad mate, Ashley, really helped me fill in the plot holes of this book. Thank you, Ashley!

Drink of choice when writing? When not writing?

Coffee. Coffee. Coffee. I have to make a coffee before I write. Half the time I don’t even drink it, but I can’t concentrate if it’s not there. When not writing, I drink crappy $5 bottles of red wine. But whisky is my favourite drink…I mean water… I meant water, Mom. 

Synopses, love them or hate ‘em?

I hate them to death. They must die. But nothing is as bad as the hell that is: The Query Letter.

Do you have a writing playlist or a vision board?  If so, what’s on them?

Absolutely! I couldn’t write without a playlist and vision board. The playlist helps me establish the tone and remain consistent. For this book I used six songs from Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life album:

Day or Night writer?

Night! If the sun is shining, I can’t stand being inside writing. Plus, the MC in my book lives in a cursed kingdom of eternal night, so writing when it was dark definitely helped.
