What book do you wish you had illustrated, and why?
Way too many to name! But some of the ones at the top of my list would be Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows, and Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching novels. These are the kind of books that perfectly combine the kind of story I like to read with the kind of imagery I love to draw, as they don’t always match exactly.
If you’re not reading or drawing, what would we catch you doing?
Playing video games or board games, sculpting, going for walks with my husband, hanging out with my small local illustrators gang.
If money were no object, what would be your dream drawing location?
A cottage in the middle of a forest, with big windows and lots of natural light… and a fantastic internet connection.
Do you have a drawing playlist or a vision board? If so, what’s on them?
Yes! I always keep reference and inspiration folders for each project I work on, and while I don’t make an official playlist, some music gets more play time if it helps me get in the right mindset/mood. Right now I’m working on a graphic novel series about a teenage vampire and it’s all very tragic and gothic, so my folders are full of Victorian and Edwardian fashion and architecture, and I’m mostly listening to progressive and doom metal bands that use the word “oblivion” a lot in their lyrics.
Drink of choice when drawing? When not drawing?
Drawing or not, I’ll most often be found drinking either lattes or yerba mate.
Day or Night illustrator?
I’m not a super early riser but I still have to say Day illustrator. Working with analog media often means seizing the hours of daylight as much as you can. I have lamps as well but natural light is always best for painting.

Technically, I can be found in all of them, but the truth is my Facebook profile is nowadays just crickets and cobwebs. I post new work on Instagram but I’m most active on Twitter.

If you could meet any artist, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why?
Since I’m raising the dead, I’ll just assume language barriers are not an issue and I’ll mention two: Georges Beuville, possibly my favorite illustrator ever, although I know very little about him beyond the amazing artwork he’s left behind; and Tove Jansson, another favorite for art and comics and writing, her worlds are full of wonder and from learning about her work and life, I think she must have been a really interesting person.
