I’m thrilled to welcome Tif Marcelo to the BookEnds team!

Tif is the author of the Journey to the Heart series of contemporary romances at Simon & Schuster Pocket Star. Her debut NORTH TO YOU released in June and book two EAST IN PARADISE (which can be enjoyed on its own or in order), releases in September. I first connected with Tif through her #pitmad pitch tweet, and I’m thrilled that tweet led to more!

While Tif and I have been working together for a while now, I wanted to open the floor to clients who might not be on your radar, since we are both new to BookEnds. Hope you enjoy learning more about Tif!

Tell us a bit about your writing process. Where do you write, and how often?

I’m an early bird writer! I start my day at around 5 am, and write until the rest of my family wakes, at around 7am. Thereafter, I sneak in time whenever my schedule allows. My favorite place to write is my dining room table. I love the table—it’s beautiful and handmade and rustic, and is situated in front of our kitchen windows. It’s also the center point of the home, so I can jump in throughout the day. Sometimes, when the house is rambunctious, I take my computer to my bedroom, and hide there. Hehe.

Do you have any writing rituals? (e.g. burning a candle if you’re having trouble getting started at the computer or writing longhand first if you’re feeling uninspired.)

I need coffee and something crunchy to eat! Those are the only two things I clamor for when I start to write.

If you’re not reading or writing, what would we catch you doing?

Catching up on TV shows! I will binge shows to fill my cup! Also, since I’m a mom to four, you will always catch me with at least one of my kids—love them to pieces!

Do you belong to any writing organizations?

RWA, YA-RWA and Washington DC Romance Writers

Where can readers find you on the web and social media?

Twitter and Instagram: @TifMarcelo
Facebook: /TifMarcelo

What’s the last book you read?

INTO THE WATER by Paula Hawkins (SO GOOD!!)

If money were no object, what would be your dream writing location?

A mountain home with floor to ceiling windows, facing east for the sunrise. Either in the Laurel Highlands of PA, the Adirondacks of NY, Moab, UT or the Sierra foothills of CA.

What’s your favorite quote about reading or writing?

“Carry the fire!” – THE ROAD
(this is my favorite quote for everything)

What’s your favorite piece of writing advice you’ve received?

From my dad, who said the same thing when I was getting my MPA: “There’s no substitution for time.”

Plotter or pantster?

In between! I need a synopsis to guide the way.

Synopses, love them or hate ‘em?

Hate ‘em until I write them, then I LOVE them to pieces. They save me from my wandering brain (and characters).

Drink of choice when writing? When not writing?

COFFEE for both.

What excites you most about joining the BookEnds family?

Meeting and learning from fantastic authors and agents and having the resources of an awesome agency!

What advice would you give to other authors in the query trenches?

Keep going.
