Join Jessica Faust for a June Speakeasy Event!

  • By: BookEnds | Date: May 18 2021

Back by popular demand! We are thrilled to announce that BookEnds President, and Literary Agent Jessica Faust is hosting another query workshop with Speakeasy. If you missed signing up for her first two sessions, we are thrilled to report you have another chance.

Those who have been following along know that BookEnds has put out a wealth of free information on our social media platforms. From informative new Instagram series, expanded topics on YouTube, free events for Clubhouse users and more.

Now we’d love for you to join Jessica for an interactive query workshop. Here’s more about what you can expect from the event:

The first step to getting a traditional book deal is a query that grabs a literary agent’s interest and has them begging to read the rest of the book. In this 2-part workshop, you’ll learn how to write the rejection-proof query with specific emphasis on the blurb—the most important piece. In addition, we’ll talk about an attention-grabbing title and how to write a bio that highlights your strengths, even if you don’t have previous writing credentials.

You’ll also learn how to use the query as a larger part of your writing process rather than just a means to an end. Attendees will have the opportunity to workshop their queries with Jessica and get input not just on the query, but on how reading the query can inform the writing of the book itself.

This event is a good fit for adults who have a complete or near-complete manuscript (or proposal, if non-fiction) and who are preparing to query agents.

When is this incredible event, you ask? It will be two-sessions, hosted on June 16th and June 23rd. But how can YOU sign up? Attendance is limited to the first 20 participants, so if you’d like to sign up, make sure to do so as soon as possible. Click this link and go forth! We hope to see you there.

This is going to be great! I am getting ready to query and I am trying to prepare for all the rejection that is going to come my way. I know that it’s not acceptable to query 2 agents from the same company at the same time, but if you get a rejection from your 1st choice is it okay to query another agent from that company after that?
