Rom-coms are a fun, fresh breath of air. I love to write stories that make people laugh and tug at their heartstrings in the best possible way. Creating characters who confront their own struggles on the path to happily-ever-after and emerge as stronger individuals brings me so much joy. Oh, and I can’t say enough about banter. I absolutely live for a great back-and-forth.
Why did you choose Romance?
If there’s a hint of romance in any book or movie, regardless of genre, that’s the storyline that resonates with me. The screen might be filled with heart-pumping action or a high stakes quest, but I’m on the edge of my seat wondering when Han and Leia are going to admit they’re wild about each other. And from the time I discovered the romance section at the local library, I was hooked. A whole genre devoted to love stories? Perfect.
If you’re not reading or writing, what would we catch you doing?
Lifting weights is a big one for me. The sense of capability and potential for growth are addictive. And dance workouts are totally my jam. Another hobby of mine is browsing food blogs and cooking magazines to collect dessert recipes. Whether or not I pull them off is a toss-up, but the process is always a lot of fun, and *usually* tasty!
Where can readers find you on the web and social media?
If money were no object, what would be your dream writing location?
Anywhere with a view! Mountains, the waterfront, a city skyline, or a village square. Actually, why not all of the above? A coastal apartment on a mountainside sounds like a great place to spin love stories.
Do you have a writing playlist or a vision board? If so, what’s on them?
I create both while I’m drafting. My playlist evolves right along with the story, and I find myself listening to certain songs on repeat to capture the mood of each scene. The music itself is pretty eclectic and includes pop, R&B, folk, hip hop, and country, to name a few. My vision boards on Pinterest evoke the vibe of the story. Going back through them after finishing a round of edits has all the nostalgia of flipping through an old scrapbook.
Drink of choice when writing? When not writing?
Coffee! Cold and black, all year round, with the exception of fancy lattes on occasion. In that case, bring on the flavored syrup and whipped cream.
What excites you most about joining the BookEnds family?
BookEnds was the first agency I heard about when I started my writing journey, and the one that stood out all along. I watched the YouTube channel to get a better grasp of the querying process and learned a ton. When Rachel reached out to me, I was floored. I am beyond thrilled to be partnered with such a successful agent who is so enthusiastic about my story and characters. And I love that BookEnds is committed to working with their authors to build fulfilling careers.
