Why BookEnds? From our first phone call, James has been super enthusiastic about my work and that makes me feel appreciated and supported as an artist. I feel like this is going to be a great collaborative relationship for my career.

JM: I am so thrilled to welcome Lindsay and her incredible portfolio of art to the BookEnds Jr. team. Her bright color palette, whimsical character designs, and cheerful tone is going to brighten many a bookshelf!

If you’re not reading, writing or drawing what would we catch you doing?

Downing coffee while trying to keep up with my 3 1/2 year old daughter while prepping for baby #2! I also enjoy sewing cute sloth plushies and needle felting little plant animals and succulents for my online shop.

Where can readers find you on the web and social media?

What’s the last book you read?

I am a HUGE Phantom of the Opera nerd so I have tons of Phantom themed novels and fan fiction on my nightstand that I have on rotation to read.

If money were no object, what would be your dream writing location?

A cute little coffee shop somewhere in Europe.

What’s your favorite quote about illustrating?

My purpose is to create a mirror for the reader to see themselves, to create a light for people to see themselves in the characters, pictures, and stories. So they resonate.

– Kadir Nelson

What’s your favorite piece of illustration advice you’ve received?

Stop trying to make everything perfect. Loosen up and show those imperfections and flaws because that adds so much endearment to the character and story. – Rosie Butcher

What excites you most about joining the BookEnds family?

I am really excited to join a tight-nit group who shares my enthusiasm for creating work for kids. I am looking forward to also developing my own picture book stories with James as my ally and helping me grow my career and an illustrator.
