The Successful Collaboration of an Author and Her Literary Agent

One of the things I love most about my job is collaborating with my clients. Whether it’s coming up with new ideas for them to work on or coming up with ideas to help strengthen and grow a particular book. It’s one of the reasons I first became an agent.
If you follow BookEnds_Literary on Instagram you’ll see that we are obsessed with Little Libraries (we’d be more obsessed if we saw more). I love the idea and have often thought of putting one up myself, except I live on sort of a remote road and no one would ever come by. That being said, whenever I see one I drop a book in and check out what other offerings they have. I also photograph it.
It was only natural that BookEnds would come up with the idea of a Little Library mystery series. I mean it’s perfect. So we did and we’re thrilled that the first book by Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli released this month. We’re even more excited that Elizabeth has shared her side of the Little Library adventure on Shelf Pleasure.
OH!! I have a post on my blog tomorrow on an online blogger, Karen Owen’s Little Library. So cool an idea that seems to be up-to-the-minute. I’ll have to check these books out!
I’ve already got this book on my TBB (to be bought) list. I love the idea of a cozy with little libraries as the theme.
I think little libraries are a brilliant idea and have thought about putting one in – except I’d be about the first in this city (popn about 350,00), so not sure how it would go. But our house is in a perfect position (lots of foot traffic – people walking dogs mostly), and we are on a corner so it would be easily seen. Building and weatherproofing I think will be the biggest challenge!
I’ve also thought (and this is totally cart before horse) that it would be great marketing for when I get a contract… it’s totally something the media would be willing to do a story on, and the perfect opportunity to mention a debut. Just sayin’.
