What genres do you write? Read?

My first two books are mystery/thrillers with a touch of paranormal, and the two I’m currently working on are psychological suspense. I enjoy detective stories (I love Sue Grafton’s Kinsey Milhone and I’m so sad the alphabet now ends in Y), thrillers, gritty suspense, and some horror (especially Stephen King). I also love writers like Jodi Picoult and Diana Gabaldon. The third season of Outlander just came out on Netflix, so I’ve switched sleep for binge-watching.

Plotter or pantser?

At first, I was a complete pantser. THE FAITHFULrequired so many revisions it was ridiculous, mainly because I had no idea what I was doing. With each new project, I become more of a plotter, although I doubt I’ll ever write a detailed synopsis. I do always know the ending, which guides me when I’m lost.

Synopses, love them or hate ‘em?

Blech. Hate.

Do you have a writing playlist or a vision board?  If so, what’s on them?

That sounds so organized. I scribble notes on the backs of envelopes and other scraps of paper, lose them, and forever wonder if I’ve missed something brilliant.

Drink of choice when writing? When not writing?

Coffee is my survival juice. Functioning doesn’t happen without it.

Day or Night writer?

Usually, I write during the day, but when I’m feeling stuck an evening session often helps. I think my mind is more relaxed in the evening, even if it doesn’t function as well. Editing needs to happen in the morning.

If you could meet any author, living or dead, who would you want to meet and why?

Stephen King. I love him so much—in a totally non-creepy way of course.
