Conferences Give Me a Chance to Answer All Your Questions
It’s been over two years since we’ve been able to truly hold writers conferences. While I can’t say I miss the long weekends and grueling hours many conferences required, I can honestly say that I miss connecting with authors.
When BookEnds first opened our doors there was no Twitter or Instagram. The only way for a new agency to connect with authors, other agents and to make ourselves known was through conferences. At the end of each weekend, after hours of pitches, workshops, and terrible hotel food, I was exhausted. And exhilarated. I loved hearing about new books, careers and talking about what I knew of publishing. I loved sharing information.
Speakeasy Introduces: The Secrets of Publishing with Jessica Faust
These days some conferences have gone virtual, but after 20+ years in the business I don’t think they are the best place for me. Instead I’ve found my home with Speakeasy–an interactive masterclass where I get the privilege and opportunity to connect virtually with a small group (10-30) authors. I get to hear their stories, answer their questions, and, hopefully quell any anxieties they might have about publishing.
I started my Speakeasy workshops in 2021 and plan to continue them through 2022. My first one, this month. Check out the full list and sign up and connect. I am excited to get to know you all and, of course, hear all about your stories.
Dear Jessica Faust,
This is my first-time writing queries, so I have been watching your YouTube videos. I saw this post while reading your blog but couldn’t find your session on SpeakEasy to sign up for the February 2nd Master Class. I know I still have a lot to learn about this process and I appreciate your teaching style and transparency. Do you still have spots available?
Thanks!
Amy Martinez
Hi Amy, thanks for asking. I’m afraid I’m finishing my last Speakeasy this week and have no immediate plans for others. We will let you know when and if that changes.
Sounds great, thank you!
