Name:Cani Chen What you Write: Children’s books Agent: James McGowan Why BookEnds? James seems so passionate and warm in the Call, I’m so glad he found me in the sea of instagram! To be represented is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for but I haven’t submitted to any agency for a long time. I guess it’s my luck to have James found me.
What book do you wish you had written, and why?
Princess Adventures, written by Sylvie Missilin and illustrated by Amandine Piu. In this fabulous book, you can choose what comes next! With the little tab as in dictionaries, you can decide the path and how the story evolves. It’s like a game and I love it so much. Also, the style of the characters and the world are fascinating, I’d love to live in a world like that!
If you’re not reading or writing, what would we catch you doing?
Crafting
I love making toys for my girls with recycled cardboard box. I’m also a sewer , I make dresses, bibs or backpacks and even play tent for my kids! I never stop making.
Where can readers find you on the web and social media?
Children’s book: What’s in my Lunch Box? By Kishida Eriko
If money were no object, what would be your dream writing location?
Marrakech
What’s your favorite piece of writing advice you’ve received?
Do the things that make you forget time
What excites you most about joining the BookEnds family?
I can’t wait to draw my next picture book!
Do you have any drawing rituals? (e.g. burning a candle if you’re having trouble getting started at the computer or writing longhand first if you’re feeling uninspired.)
I’d put my feet in a bucket of warm water with essential oil to keep myself warm and cozy in Winter. I listened to podcast about travel when I need some distractions.
