Having Rejector’s Remorse
- By: Jessica Faust | Date: Feb 03 2015
I’m usually incredibly well organized, at least that’s what I tell myself. But even the organized lose things now and then.
Well not long ago (okay it was probably last Fall or earlier) I read this mystery I really liked. I even called and talked with the author about it. At least I called in my head, maybe I only emailed. Anyway, I asked the author to keep me in mind for revisions or any other books. That damn book has been haunting me. I want to read it again. To reconsider. I want to see it again.
I can’t find it. I’ve checked my “Authors to Track” file. I’ve checked my deleted files. I’ve searched and searched and I can’t find it anywhere. I’m sad.
That’s today’s Rejector’s Remorse.

Now this post is a mystery I want to follow! I'm hoping the author in question comes forward and something great comes of it! Good luck on finding this person.
I have always wondered if that happened to agents. It happens to me all the time regarding agents, did I or didn't I, send a query?
But I was thinking, could the writer of which you speak be me?
My books weren't mysteries, it was more than a few years ago, you never requested a full and unfortunately we've never talked.
But, but…
This might give us writers hope that a "no" is not always be a final "no"… but I'm guessing that's rarely the case. Most of the time a "no" really is a "no." What it actually shows is that agents are human, and every now and again they second guess themselves.
I too hope the writer recognizes his/her work described and comes forward. 🙂
Hope you find the author. 🙂
Maybe in a couple weeks when Mercury is out of retrograde…?! Those things tend to hide in that place called "Right There All Along" and show up when it's most exasperating…
