How We Read Queries

  • By: BookEnds | Date: Aug 04 2021

You might be ready with your first (or tenth) batch of queries, but then notice the different guidelines that each agent or agency outlines as part of their submission process. Some agents want samples, other agents want a synopsis along with the full manuscript, and others want both.

Each agent has their own approach to tackling their query inbox. To give you a peek behind the curtain, James and Jessica are joined by Kim to give you a range of strategies in how literary agents read their queries, samples, and synopses.

Enjoy!

Great info and very helpful! Kim has my full and (2 page) synopsis now so I am cautiously hopeful that the voice and plot are what she’s looking for! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
